Unladylike seeks to redefine womanhood and dismantle outdated ideologies and social stigmas while also promoting healing through art and community events. Unladylike has curated its popular Puff, Paint, Pass and art exhibitions like self-titled UNLADYLIKE: An Exhibition of Womanhood and Escapism: Sex Positivity Exhibition. Additionally, community events include The Healing Hub Series, and virtual events like Good Vibrations Pleasure Party, Soulful Meditation, etc.
About DeJa Jovon
DeJa Jovon is a visual artist and licensed therapist specializing in Sex therapy. Also, DeJa Jovon is a self-taught artist based in Chicago. She primarily works with acrylic and oil paints. Her work encompasses a sensual yet eclectic flare that depicts her perception of personal experiences and sociopolitical issues especially those affecting Black people. She is inspired by literature such as Audre Lorde’s Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power, bell hooks All About Love and surreal artwork from Salvador Dali. She has participated in various shows throughout Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles as well.
